Never leave home without it!

I've had the Mini-Jumper for over a year and I love it! We were once at an evening event with our children and found our battery dead afterwards. Rather than wait in the dark for who knows how long for roadside service, we took the Mini-Jumper out of the trunk, clicked on the flash light, raised the hood, hooked it up, charged up the battery in seconds and were on our way! The kids didn't even notice we were having a "situation." We've also used the Mini-jumper after a hurricane to charge our cell phones and for portable power. It's great!
Handy, Compact, Effective!

This is a handy jumpstarter for a car in need. I bought one for each of my 4 son-in-laws and our 3 cars. It will start a car with a 'dead' battery, for sure. I have used it, my sons-in-law have been bailed out on many an occasion, and I'm now going to buy 2 more.

The "case" is built-in, meaning, the cables store onto the device as shown. The light is great in the dark for finding your battery cables. The device comes with some charge, but hook it up overnight to realize the full charge. It says it can do about 10 cars worth of jumps on a charge... I usually re-charge aftermultiple uses.

I recommend one for each car. It has a 12 volt adapter for plugging in whatever you need to run or charge (like a cell phone).
Best battery jumper on the market!

I absolutely love this product!!! I purchased this to replace a much larger and heavier one that was a pain to lug out when needed, not to mention that it took up almost half of my trunk. This mini-jumper has been everything it claims to be and more. It is lightweight, takes up very little space and is extremely easy to use. You just connect the cables and turn the key in the car engine, and voila! I've already used this product three times in the span of about a month to jump strangers who have been stranded and I haven't had to charge it yet. I can't recommend this item enough! An added bonus is the built-in DC outlet that allows you to charge items at home that do not have a regular electrical plug like a GPS unit or an MP3 player. Do not hesitate, buy this product and you won't be sorry!!!
A Pleasant Surprise

I Never heard of this product but I can tell you that right out of the box it started my totally dead battery. I didn't even need to charge the product before I used it the first time. My car battery is still dead but I just keep using the ALLSTART AMJ-401 to start my car, I really need to take my car it in and replace the battery as it has been shot for over a year now and it wont hold a charge.(but the Mini-Jumper Jumpstarter still starts my Prius) I highly recommend this product. It also has some other neat features, I have been using to charge one of my old ipods too. It is small well built, neat and compact and very easy to handle and to use.
Good things in small packages

I've had my mini-jump for over 10 years and have been pleased with its ruggedness and power. It never let us down. As with all the rechargeables you MUST make sure it never goes completely dead. It will be useless after that cause the charge circuit will not charge a dead battery. That was never a problem for us, because we used it often as we camp and have a lot of equipment that requires jump started from time to time. Unfortunately the negative battery post broke off without my realizing it. I thought it just needed a charge, but when I plugged it in the charging controller got so hot the 3 resistors on the circuit board came unsoldered. They actually fell out of the board. If anyone out there has one of these that doesn't work anymore and you want to sell it . . . I'd like to fix mine. If I can't, I'll just keep it around to remind me of all the good times we had camping with the kids, etc.

Excellent product. On my next one I will open the case and clamp down the cable leads somehow so the battery terminals don't get bent back and forth with use, and eventually break off - like mine did after more than 10 years of use. Then it will be a forever product!

The Allstar Mini-Jumper 900 proved reliable and a worthwhile accessory on a recent trek to remote areas of Baja California. The Mini-jumper was able to deliver multiple jumps with little reduction in stored power. The standard booster-cable clamps were familiar and easy to use. The unit was also capable of charging travel accessories like cell phones, GPS, i-pods. The built-in light is an okay idea, however its weight prohibits its use. Its major problems would be weight followed size. While we were glad to have it, on a long trip where weight and space are at a premium, we would have looked at size more closely prior to selection. All criticism forgiven, once it bailed us out of trouble, now it's part of our permanent travel tool kit.
Jumpstarter not as good as advertised.

I was disappointed when I received my jumpstarter. The advertisement said jumpstarter with case but there was no case. The jumpstarter appeard to be fully charged when I received it, at least that is what it showed when I perssed the status switch. I tried to start my car with it but it wouldn't start my car. I put the charger on the jumpstarter for awhile and the status switch showed the jumpstarter was fully charged. But I still didn't get more than a grunt or two when I tried to start my car. So I am kind of disappointed in my purchase, but I will keep it anyway. It will charge my cell phone and the spot light is a good thing. But when it comes to jumpstarting my car it is no good.
Falsely advertised as "with case"

The item seems to work okay, but I have a problem with the advertised description. It is advertised as "with case". This is NOT TRUE !! I was sent a second order when I complained. Same story. I doubt if a case for this item actually exists since the accessories shown in the users guide does not mention a case.
Does not work in the NY cold

Bought this about a year ago. Worked great in LA but as soon as I moved to NYC it crapped out.
I typically use this to jumpstart my Harley and it just doesn't seem to produce enough juice to crank the bike. I've had to jump the bike using jumper cables and my car.
Would definitely get something stronger next time.
Defective out of the box

The charger light didn't come on when I plugged it in. I left it on to see if it would charge up. It didn't. I returned it.
Will not take a charge and Allstart has no customer Service!!

I used this piece of junk one time. The next time I tried to use it, it did absolutely nothing. When I plug it into the wall it will not take a charge. So I went to allstart's website and emailed customer service and my email got returned. It's past the return period, so basically I'm stuck with a $65 paperweight.
