Cranking power! | | Review Date: January 14, 2009 | | Reviewer: R. Martinie, Nashville, TN United States | | Perhaps I just haven't had a new battery in a while and I've forgotten how they all work when new, but this battery seems to throw a LOT more power than I expected to the engine to start it up on even the coldest days so far this year. If this battery can perform at this level for a couple years, it'll have been the best battery I've ever bought. At this point though, expensive compared to the "el cheapo" brands you may find at walmart, but worth it knowing it's got the juice to get it done. |
worthwhile upgrade | | Review Date: December 22, 2008 | | Reviewer: rob22042, northern virginia | | Needed a new battery after 5 years and wanted something that would stay charged up since i don't use the truck every day. Spins the engine even on the coldest day like it was summer. Also have an electric snow plow lift that challenges normal batteries. So far I'm pleased with my purchase, came as advertised and took less than a week to get it. |
Very Good... | | Review Date: August 30, 2009 | | Reviewer: J.G., Denver, CO | I now own 2 of these. The first one I bought at Sears(they no longer stock them). Most people want a cheap replacement battery. The first one I still have and is still going strong after 8 years. The one I bought from Amazon just over a year ago, is in my newer truck. The two things I like the most about these is- 1) They don't leak acid. 2) Will last up to 3 times longer then a standard battery (if taken care of). JG

Time will tell! | | Review Date: September 15, 2009 | | Reviewer: garydalbre, Denver, CO | | Installed this in my Suburban after years of returning several dead Wal Mart top of the line units. Although covered under warranty it got to be a pain. Seems to start vehicle faster and easier! Since this is an item that takes time to properly evaluate I will check back in a few years. TIME WILL TELL! |
Optima Red Top Battery | | Review Date: January 30, 2010 | | Reviewer: M. Shepherd, West Central Florida | | Anyone wanting a top of the line car battery, this is it! Looks great under the hood of my 68 Chevelle, with the matching red cover! SHARP ! ! |
Not good for leaving connected | | Review Date: April 19, 2010 | | Reviewer: blotter, San Francisco, CA USA | Slow drain kills these batteries. The manufacturer knows this. If you keep this battery unhooked, except when you use it, it'll work well. Best amp level I've ever seen, lasts forever if you leave it unhooked. But DO NOT LEAVE IT in a car for long slow drain or it will fail. and it will fail faster than the cheapest battery you can buy. And the manufacturer is aware of this and will lie and refuse your warranty request.

Great batteries | | Review Date: December 2, 2009 | | Reviewer: J. Pittman, | | Great batteries, good power, very lightweight. Arguably the best features are no maintenance and NO CORROSION, ever! I use these in pairs wired parallel in a diesel truck. No batteries last really long in that application, but these lasted much longer than Interstate, Motorcraft, etc. They did not last as long as claimed, but did go 5+ years, instead of ~3 years for conventional name brand batteries. I got the 34/78 dual terminal style to make it easy to wire up heavy accessories. Warranty should be serviceable most anywhere at an AutoZone, O'Reilly, etc. |
Optima-High Tech car Battery | | Review Date: June 16, 2008 | | Reviewer: Thomas A. Renick, Sarasota Fl. | | This is my second Red Top- the first one still worked but I replaced it as a preventative measure. Gave the old one away to someone who had a dead battery. Optima is a sealed AGM attery with many high tech features and will not leak. |
Watch out on return policies | | Review Date: November 27, 2009 | | Reviewer: Jay, | | Let's face it, you're buying a car battery off Amazon. There's no returns accepted for this item, so unless you have some kind of guarantee that it fits on your car, don't buy it here. |
Failed within a year and a half, Optima refuses warranty service | | Review Date: August 5, 2009 | | Reviewer: James, San Jose | I bought this battery from a local Optima dealer on January 2008. It died on August 2009. Since it comes with a three year warranty, I tried to get it serviced under the warranty by calling the Optima 1-800 number. Customer service agent was very rude and kept telling me I'd have to pay a fee in order to get my battery serviced. |
Don't Buy | | Review Date: July 17, 2010 | | Reviewer: dj, | | Optima batteries fail easily and their warranties are not honored. If you buy one, be sure and keep your original receipt. The warranty might be honored by the dealer where you purchased the battery. It won't be honored by any other dealer. If your battery fails when you are out of town--you are out of luck!!!! |
Use Die Hard next time | | Review Date: June 28, 2009 | | Reviewer: Peter Chang, Texas | | I have two of this and they all have problems less than two years and end up replace with Die Hard. |
