The interior lights on my 1997 Jeep Wrangler are stuck on. Any ideas how to get them to turn off?
I have tried everything aside from actually unplugging the battery and they won’t go off. It’s too late to go to a repair or parts store and the light will drain my battery if I wait until morning. Has anyone else had a similar problem before or does anyone know any way to fix it?
I have tried the switches on both doors and neither of those will turn the light off and I can’t get to the actual light bulb, as far as I can tell, without breaking the cover to it so I figure taking the fuse out is my best option. I don’t know which fuse controls the interior lights. I looked at the owners manual and I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know which position the fuse would be in that controls the interior lights?

if its not the switch (headlight/dome light)keeping it on it may be the switch that is in the door that makes the light come on when you open the door. open the door and try wiggling the switch(if you know what i mean) if not disconnect the battery and reconnect in the morning and go to a shop good luck

try turning the interior light switch off which should be part of the headlight switch or real close to it

Look for the interior light fuse in the fuse box on the side of the dash or underneath and pull it till morning. That way your battery is saved and you can get to a repair shop in the morning.

Take the bulb out or drive your car all night to keep your battery charged until morning when a professional can look at it. Just drive in circles in the parking lot of a mental hospital.

If you’ve made sure all the doors are closed properly and the switches are all off(which i’m sure you have!), then I suggest just taking out the fuses that run the lights. It should tell you where to find the fuses and which one to take out in the manual. Then you can still drive it till you figure out the problem! Good Luck. Boo Ya!!!!
You should just pop them out one at a time until the light goes off. I don’t think it will do any harm to you car if you try it that way.

Well If the battery did drain because of leaving the dome lights overnight once, it is a bad battery because it has the capasity to. And if it does drain then, well its a good thing, it is alot better than being stranded somewhere!!
(1)Is there a switch for the dome lights, either be the light on the cieling, or the instument panel dimmer.
(2) Doors and hatch are shut right? (sorry have to ask!)
(3) After the other two are eliminated, one of the door switches/sensors are broken or missaligned.
For part like these on an older jeep, I recremend price checking the salvage yards, you may get a good deal.
